Edward Evans Autograph Signed Display - black fountain pen autograph of British naval officer Edward Evans who served as second-in-command on Robert Falcon Scott's ill-fated expedition to the South Pole in 1910-1913 and as captain of the expedition ship Terra Nova.

On hearing that he had not been selected by Scott to be one of the men to make the final push on the South Pole Evans turned back with just 150 miles to go.  On the return journey Evans became seriously ill with scurvy and nearly died but was rescued and taken home in the Terra Nova in March 1912.  In the same month Scott and his party perished.  Evans was to return in the Terra Nova and rescue the expedition's remaining survivors

Fascinatingly this slip of paper was signed by Evans in June 1913 just a few months after finally returning home.  He adds the line Brit. Ant. Exp. beneath his name

Double mounted in cream and black with  a stunning image of the Terra Nova and professionally framed in black to an overall size of 15 x 18 inches
