Television Comedy Autographs

A great selection of autographs from the stars of British and American television sitcoms available at the Autograph Collection. I Love Lucy, starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, is regarded as the first of the modern television situation comedies and was followed through the fifties and sixties by The Phil Silvers Show, The Addams Family, I Dream of Jeannie and Bewitched. In this period the BBC produced the majority of the sitcoms which are now regarded as classics such as Hancock’s Half Hour, Steptoe & Son and Dad’s Army. The seventies brought Happy Days, MASH, Mork and Mindy and Fawlty Towers, Porridge and The Good Life in a golden age of sitcom. In the eighties a new style of comedy took hold and this was reflected in The Young Ones, Blackadder and what has turned out to be Britain’s most popular ever sitcom Only Fools and Horses.  Many of these shows can still be regularly seen today on television which is a reflection of the quality of the writing and comedy performances. Today the biggest sitcom in the world is The Big Bang Theory with the three principal characters earning one million dollars per episode
