A note handwritten and signed by renowned English novelist and poet Thomas Hardy mounted with a black and white portrait.  The note is on a Max Gate correspondence card and dates to 1909. The note reads in full 'Dear Mr Huxtable, Certainly put me down as a patron if it will do the slightest good, though I am not sure that I shall be able to attend. Yours truly, T. Hardy.  LLD (?) can be added if desirable - though I never use it." Some light foxing

Double mounted in cream and black  to an overall size of 17 x 12 inches
